What is the difference between riding breeches and riding tights?

Riding breeches are usually made of a firmer, thicker material and often have knee patches or full seat grip to provide extra grip in the saddle. Riding tights are often more elastic and thinner, more comfortable for everyday use and training rides, but offer less protection and grip than riding breeches.

What should I pay attention to when buying riding breeches?

Pay attention to the fit, material and grip zones (knee grip or full seat). The trousers should have sufficient stretch for freedom of movement, be breathable and resistant to wear. The waist height and trouser length are also important for comfort in the saddle.

What are the advantages of riding breeches with grip?

Riding breeches with grip (on the knees or full seat) provide better stability and safety in the saddle because you are less likely to slide. They also provide more confidence while riding, especially during jumping or dressage training.

What is the difference between knee grip and full seat riding breeches?

Knee grip breeches have grip material on the knees, ideal for riders who ride a lot light or half-seat. Full seat breeches have grip over the entire seat, which offers extra stability, especially when jumping or longer rides.

What types of grip are there on riding breeches?

There are different types of grip materials on riding breeches, such as silicone, suede, and rubber. Silicone grip is the most popular because it is flexible, durable, and water-resistant. It provides a firm grip without restricting your freedom of movement. Suede grip gives a classic look but can be more susceptible to wear, while rubber grip is often firmer but less flexible.

What are elasticated legs on riding breeches and why are they useful?

Elasticated legs ensure that the bottom of the riding breeches fits tightly around your ankles or boots. This prevents the breeches from riding up while riding and ensures a neat, tight look. In addition, elasticated legs make it easier to put on and take off your riding boots without the breeches riding up.

How do I best maintain my riding breeches?

Wash riding breeches according to the care label, usually at a low temperature and without fabric softener. Wash grip breeches on a gentle cycle to prevent wear. Avoid the dryer to maintain elasticity and grip zones.
